The new dealership rig was making its debut appearance at Hay Days, placed ideally across the way from the massive Up North Sports building full of helmets, accessories and apparel.

But Iverson Powersports of Mitchell, S.D., brought plenty of history — and used sleds! — with it over the weekend in North Branch, Minn.

The Can-Am, Ski-Doo and Yamaha dealership is in Year 2 since its formation after Scott Studer sold the former Palace MotoSports to the local Chrysler dealer in 2024. Of course, Hay Days attendees might recall the decades that Studer had set up shop with Palace.

"This is our debut at Hay Days as Iverson Powersports," said Bob Borgstrom, Shop Foreman and Lead Tech who has worked for the previous and current owners since 2013. "And it's my first year ever to come. I was told a lot of things, like there's going to be a lot of people, a lot of parts and a lot of everything you can imagine. It's going to be mind-blowing. Honestly, I am here and it is mind blowing. Nothing compares to it. We've heard the motocross, we've heard the drag racing since we got here Thursday morning."

Seems the new boss had the same mantra as the old one — don't bring anything back to Mitchell!

"Everything is willing to go — for a price," Borgstrom told me just a few hours into Day 1 of Hay Days. "We brought a bunch of used sleds, parts, jackets, helmets, bags. We've had plenty of people coming by to check us out. We've already sold a sled, so that's a good start. That's one less thing we have to take back. It seems like we've got a fair amount of interest. A lot of guys are looking for some specific parts and we have what they're looking for."

While 2025 Hay Days offered just about every weather option other than snow, Borgstrom is hopeful that the white stuff flies with more frequency this season.

"I like what I'm hearing. By the sounds of it, everybody's talking a lot of snow. We need it after these last couple of years."

Of course, ditch banging is prevalent in the flatlands around Mitchell, but the local customers have been known to drive 5–15 hours to find their terrain of choice.

"Our customers will go up to the Black Hills, they go to the Bighorns in Wyoming. Also Colorado, Idaho, Montana," Borgstrom said.

Those customers continue to return to Iverson Powersports thanks to additional resources from the new owners.

"We've grown a lot since the new ownership. They put up a brand-new bigger building for us, we've hired more techs and we're taking on more service work. We've added to our sales team and they are doing phenomenal. We've got a lot of inventory in the store and we're moving it. It's all working out very well."

Farmers and ranchers continue to boost side-by-side sales, with Can-Am Defenders being prime movers. "We're selling those year-round. But we're also selling the sport side-by-sides, crossovers, ATVs, snowmobiles, motorcycles — you name it. We're moving units so it's awesome."

This #PowersportsDealerShowcase conveys the excitement and enthusiasm that customers might expect if they walk into Iverson Powersports. Do your dealership's employees tell positive stories about their experience on the staff? Would you want to go have a conversation with Mr. Borgstrom about how to ramp up your machine's performance? Sounds to me like the store does a fantastic job of focusing on what happens between the four walls of the dealership, and it leads to folks continuing to return — and bringing their friends!
